People with Disabilities Deserve to Be Included

Every day, Community Vision helps create a world where people with disabilities are included, accepted, and able to live the life they choose. 

Medicaid funding has been critical to these efforts. For people with disabilities, Medicaid-funded programs go beyond access to healthcare and include support in the home, community, and at work. The people we support are able to live life on their terms because of our services. 

With looming threats to Medicaid, the ability for people to choose where they live, to choose how they spend their day, to choose who their caregivers are, and other basic aspects of their lives are at risk. 

Let’s show our community that this is unacceptable.

When people can make their own choices and get the support they need, great things happen.

A year ago, we shared the story of Tyler. He is part of our Supported Living and Employment Connections programs. One of the first things you’ll learn about Tyler is that he is passionate about helping people. At the time of our story, he was volunteering several days a week, helping people who were food insecure get something to eat. 

A year later, Tyler, who is now 23 years old, is still passionate about helping people and being part of the community. Through the support of our Employment Team, Tyler now works two days a week at Cafe Yumm. In addition, he’s still volunteering at a food bank. Like most people, Tyler was thrilled to get his first paycheck. His commitment to the well being of others led him to donate a portion of this first paycheck to his favorite causes.  

This is what Community Vision is all about. By helping individuals thrive, the community itself grows stronger.
