Our Mission Is Certain

As the year draws to a close, we have been reflecting on Community Vision’s place in this rapidly shifting world. The recent government funding cuts to Medicaid will have an impact on us in the coming years, although exactly how much is unknown.

What we do know is our mission remains certain, even if the future of Medicaid is not. Since 1989, we have stood for independence, choice, and inclusion for people with disabilities. We will continue to ensure they thrive in the communities they strengthen.

We value you as a member of our community and we hope you will stand with us. Over the next few months, we are going to share information about Medicaid, first-hand stories from individuals we support, and the ways that you can help.

Medicaid is vital. It provides access to essential healthcare services that might otherwise be unaffordable or unavailable. Beyond that it covers a wide range of home and community-based services for people with disabilities, such as in-home care and employment support. Medicaid, therefore, is a lifeline that allows people to live independently, maintain their health, and participate more fully in their communities.

The threat to that is real, however, and we know we will not face it by ourselves. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

This is a time when we need our people by our side, so we can build the future we want together. We hope you will continue to read our posts and newsletter over the next few months and join us as we strive forward, steadfast in our mission.
