Make a Difference

Your donation to Community Vision helps ensure people with disabilities have a home for the holidays. Your financial support lets us make housing and independence a reality for the people we support.

When you contribute to our end-of-year fundraising campaign, you make a difference. You help fund our Housing Access Program, which connects people with disabilities to affordable, accessible places to live.

Connecting People with Disabilities to Homes of Their Choice

A child sits on their mother's lap at a holiday meal. The mother helps cut the child's food. A sibling looks on.
A home means you can cook a holiday meal for your family.

People with disabilities face challenges when looking for housing. We created our Housing Access Program to help remove theses barriers to housing.

Our Housing Access team works one-on-one with people seeking housing. We learn about their preferences and needs to create a personalized plan.

The team knows where affordable and accessible apartments are. They match people with rental units and support the application process. Waitlists can be long for subsidized housing. We work with people until they move into their new home.

We found homes for 37 people so far this year, and 141 people since the program began in 2020.

Our goal is to help 9 more people find a place to call home by the end of the year.

Here are a few examples of the people we are working with now:

  • A young person with a disability has a job and wants to move out of their mother’s home.
  • A couple, both of whom have a disability, wants to move out of the run-down trailer where they currently live.
  • A person with PTSD and autism needs a place to live where they feel safe.
  • An immigrant family with children with disabilities needs to find a home near their community with enough bedrooms.

2024 Housing Access Success Story

Eli had been living with his father, when his father unexpectedly passed away. Eli could not afford the rent for the two-bedroom apartment they shared. He needed to find a new home quickly and started working with our Housing Access Program in February.

The team connected Eli with a tiny home that had just become available. He loved it and moved into it in March. He particularly likes the outdoor space, which would not be possible in a large apartment complex.
