Community Vision created the Seven Corners Gallery to showcase the work of artists with disabilities. The gallery is located in the Seven Corners Collaborative building and faces Southeast Division Street, next to the TriMet FX2 stop.
The gallery’s first show was in the fall of 2018 and was one of the grand opening events for the Seven Corners Collaborative building. The show featured artist Evan Kennedy.
Since the gallery’s opening, it has shown the work of many local artists, including Jack Ostlund, Catherine Hill, Tyla Parson, Mikayla Carpenter, Nathan Tanner, Lawrence Oliver, Amy Protz, Austin Brague, Katie Marie Carlsen, Tristan Petty, and others. For many of the shows, Community Vision organized a gallery opening event.
Artist Tristan Petty showed his work in the Seven Corners Gallery in the spring of 2022. Community Vision hosted an online opening for him. At it, he talked about his art, process, and background in an interview with Community Vision’s John Canda. You can watch the interview with Tristan Petty on YouTube.
Community Vision has partnered with PHAME and North Pole Studio to find new artists and share their work. PHAME is a fine and performing arts academy serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. North Pole Studio supports careers in the arts, and exists to increase opportunities for artists with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities to thrive as active members of the arts community.
