Compass, a project of Community Vision, is a web-based project that connects resources to the community, across Oregon, using the internet.
DisabilityCompass.org is a one-stop website providing information about and direction to services, products, and special health care resources for people with disabilities in Oregon, their families and those who support them. The site is filled with information including:
Searches
- The Community Resources Search is filled with information such as camps, useful products, community services, and more.
- The Personal Providers Search is designed to help you find direct support providers. This is particularly useful for individuals receiving services from Oregon’s Brokerage System.
- The Inclusive Child Care Search is designed to assist families in locating assistance in finding inclusive child care options or training for providers.
Community
Compass has information and tools to assist you in learning how to build community around the person you support and your family. This includes a collection of webinars and online learning opportunities that are available as one-time events or online every day and any time. In addition, our community is strengthened by the inclusion of the Region 1 DD Training Co-Op. Check in for listings of community workshops and trainings available in the Portland Metro Area.
Tools
The Compass Staff is committed to finding and making available tangible tools and practical information to improve the quality of communities and lives for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who support them. Some of these tools include a Community Event Calendar of events happening around the state, lists of exhibitors available at events (just in case you couldn’t make it), and online fact sheets and other publications.
One of the staff favorites is ”Compass Points E-News.” The Compass Staff keeps an eye out for outstanding information, events, and the monthly “Cool Find” for the newsletter.
